The name Emily Dickinson brings
to mind a whole cluster of mysterious,
rather bizarre and inaccurate
images: the broken-hearted
victim of a tragic love affair, the
meek daughter, an eccentric old
maid composing verse by moonlight. Often these exaggerated
images take on such magnitude that we forget our main concern
with Dickinson which is, of course, her poetry. The program
traces the life and work of Emily Dickinson, and explores the
world in which Dickinson lived.
Each section is accompanied by
a comprehensive glossary and an illustrated timeline. Users can
print Dickinsonís poems, and test their knowledge. The program
also features numerous games and fun activities.
The school version
contains a complete curriculum package and scoring system.
Students can use the program independently, in small
groups, or as an entire class.
Recommended for grades 5-12.
