This unit provides a comprehensive examination of the major figures that make up the Greek mythological world. It also looks at some central issues in Greek mythology, such as the creation of the world from chaos, the war between the Titans and the gods, the Ages of Man, and the creation of Pandora.
3: The Greek Myths: Sources and Styles
This program examines the sources of Greek mythology, the cultural climate that allowed such literary interpretations, and the impact of Greek myths on Western culture. It shows that Greek mythology was the creation of great and sophisticated poets like Homer, Hesiod, and Pindar.
4: The Roman Gods and Goddesses
Ancient Rome had its own distinct divinities and objects of worship. This unit provides a strong introduction to the gods, goddesses, and spiritual powers of early Rome.
